Claas Danielsen was born in 1966 in Hamburg. He has made seven documentaries, of which several were shown extensively at festivals, won international awards and were sold to European broadcasters. In 1999, Danielsen became Head of Studies of Discovery Campus (now Documentary Campus). From 2004 through 2014, he was Artistic and Managing Director of DOK Leipzig, the International Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animated Films, which he developed into a leading international documentary festival. In 2016, he was appointed Managing Director of the MDM Mitteldeutsche Medienfoerderung, the regional film fund serving Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia. He is a member of and an advisor to the European Film Academy, a board member of the Balkan Documentary Centre, and has served on numerous international festival juries and the selection committees of various German film and media funds.
