Don't Miss WINTER SLEEP by Director Nuri Bilge Ceylan

Today (19 August), in the In Focus programme, you can watch the Turkish film WINTER SLEEP, directed by Nuri Bilge Ceylan and winner of this year's Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival.

This is another masterpiece by Ceylan: the story of a rich, retired actor who runs a small hotel in central Anatolia with his young wife. An insignificant event drives and forever changes the relationships between the characters and shatters the main character's seemingly perfect life. In fact, everyone will awake from a winter sleep to see the world around them.

Nuri Bilge Ceylan was born in Istanbul, in 1959.  His first feature film, THE TOWN, and his second feature, CLOUDS OF MAY, won numerous awards. His third film, DISTANT, received the Grand Prix and the Best Actor Award at the Cannes Film Festival in 2003 and was praised internationally. His film CLIMATE was the recipient of the FIPRESCI Award at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival and received international praise by critics and experts.
In 2008, his film THREE MONKEYS won the Best Director Award at the Cannes Film Festival.

WINTER SLEEP will be screened at the National Theatre at 16:00.
