"Movies on the Move" reaches Sarajevo Film Festival

"Movies on the move" is a the project of the French Institute in Bosnia and Herzegovina supported by the European Union and Foundation Sarajevo Heart of Europe. Its main intention is to commemorate the centennial of WWI through contemporary cinema, both by presenting films and reflecting on them, as well as by making better conditions for future cinematic creations.

The project consists of three phases, with BRIDGES OF SARAJEVO of Sarajevo, an omnibus feature film created by some of the leading European film directors of today to coincide with the centenary, a common piece to each phase.

The first phase, entitled "Avant-Première" resulted in the presentation of the film as one of the central events of the Sarajevo Heart of Europe programme, on June 27th 2014 in Sarajevo. The film was screened to numerous local and international press and selected guests with great reception creating fantastic buzz that is now extending to the upcoming premiere of the film to the wider public at the 20th Sarajevo Film Festival. The fact the Festival decided to make it its opening film attests to this fact.

The second phase is titled "Movies on the Move reaches Sarajevo Film Festival". We hope to use the atmosphere of cooperation set by opening the festival with a film done in such a large scale European coproduction to create a long lasting cultural legacy. To this end we have initiated signatures of cooperation agreements between Bosnia and Herzegovina and France in the filed of culture and specifically in the field of cinema that we hope to finalise during the Festival.

The third and final phase starts in September 2014 - the presentation of the film in cities of Bosnia and Herzegovina titled "Movies on the Move touring across BiH". The“movies on the move tour “will travel through 6 cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina (Banja Luka, Tuzla, Mostar, Trebinje, Brcko, Bihac), with presentations, meetings and workshops... in 6 cities. The dense network of relationships with schools, colleges, universities and businesses established by the French Institute and the Sarajevo Film Festival on the whole territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina will act as a good platform for this cooperation.
