Film Screenings of the 29th Sarajevo Film Festival Will Not Take Place Today

Based on the Decision of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina to declare a Day of Mourning, during which cultural and entertainment programs are not held in public places, the Sarajevo Film Festival informs its audience and the public that today, August 16th, film screenings at the Sarajevo Film Festival will not take place. Additionally, there will be no film screenings as part of the Sarajevo Film Festival programme in Mostar and Tuzla.

On account of the crime in Gradačac, the Sarajevo Film Festival will organize a public discussion on the topic of "Femicide in Film, Television, and New Media" at 10:30 AM on the Festival Square. The discussion on artistic and media representations of violence against women will include filmmakers who have addressed the theme through their own work and social engagement: directors Aida Begić, Vanja Juranić, Kumjana Novakova, director Ademir Kenović, and actress Nadine Mičić, moderated by Nebojša Jovanović.

This panel will be the only public event in today's programme of the 29th Sarajevo Film Festival. We will observe the Day of Mourning with dignity, sending a message of "Solidarity with all victims of violence against women."
