Olsberg SPI to Study Impact of Sarajevo Film Festival

What is the cultural, economic and social impact of the Sarajevo Film Festival? This will be analysed in a forthcoming study carried out by Olsberg SPI, a leading international consultancy for the creative industries.

The Sarajevo Film Festival was founded in 1995, during the siege of Sarajevo. It has since grown into the largest film festival in Southeast Europe, with more than 100,000 admissions and significant industry attendance. The upcoming study will look at areas including the festival's impact on tourism and social development in Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina, its return on investment, and its role as a driver of artistic success and creation.

The study will be carried out independently via surveys with attendees and other groups, individual consultations, analysis of data and finances, among other methods. The project was presented today at the Sarajevo Film Festival's CineLink Talks.

Mirsad Purivatra, Director of Sarajevo Film Festival:

”The impact of creative industries and events on their host cities and regions is a topic of great interest to both us and similar events. We are delighted to have the opportunity for our festival to be studied by Olsberg SPI in this research project. It will be very useful for both us and our stakeholders when we plan our future work.”
