Watch the Turkish Film THE LAMB on the Seventh Day of the Festival

On the seventh day of the Festival, the Competition Programme - Features brings us two premieres at the National Theatre. The first is a screening of THE LAMB, by the Turkish director Kutluğ Ataman.

The film takes place in a village in the highlands of eastern Anatolia. As is required by age-old tradition, families here celebrate circumcision with a feast. Little Mert is to undergo the procedure but his father Ismail has no money to pay for a feast. Mert's poor but determined mother Medine puts the family to work cutting branches to earn something towards the price of the lamb they need.

Kutluğ Ataman was born in Istanbul, in 1961. He studied film at the University of California in Los Angeles and the Sorbonne in Paris. THE LAMB is his fifth feature film.

The screening will take place at 20:00.
