At the National Theater Sarajevo, Wim Wenders, one of the world’s most significant filmmakers, was presented with the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo for his exceptional contribution to the art of film.
For all those who are not in Sarajevo for the 27th Sarajevo Film Festival or prefer to watch films from the comfort of their home, Sarajevo Film Festival also provides the most of films from its programme for watching online.
The 27th Sarajevo Film Festival will be opened on Friday, 13 August, with a ceremony at the National Theatre in Sarajevo. The honour of hosting this year’s Sarajevo Film Festival was granted to a young actor from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dino Bajrović.
A total of 48 films will compete for the Heart of Sarajevo awards at the 27th Sarajevo Film Festival. The Festival’s four competition sections – for feature, documentary, short and student film – will feature 18 world, 3 international, 1 european, 25 regional and 1 B&H premieres.
Ahead of the 27th Sarajevo Film Festival, which will take place from 13 to 20 August, a press conference was held at the Meeting Point cinema in Sarajevo, where jury members of the Competition Programme – Feature Film were announced, and the new main sponsor of the Festival: UniCredit Bank was presented.
There are fifteen film professionals – actresses, actors, directors and screenwriters – participating in the Ponta Lopud masterclass. They come from Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, North Macedonia and Kosovo.
The Adriatic Audience Award will be presented to the best film in the cash amount of EUR 5,000 for the film cinema distribution in the territory of former Yugoslavia.

Twelve feature films from the programme of the 26th Sarajevo Film Festival are competing for the Audentia award. The members of the jury are: Aida Begić, film director (BiH), Marco Müller, artistic director of the international film festival ‘Pingyao Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon’ (Italy/China), and Iris Zappe-Heller, deputy director and head of department of Gender Equality and Diversity of the Austrian Film Institute (Austria).

Due to greatly increased concern regarding the epidemiological situation in Sarajevo, and record cases of COVID-19 infection in the city in the past several days, we at the Sarajevo Film Festival have made the decision to conduct the 2020 edition of all festival events entirely online from 14 to 21 August.

Animator Aleta Rajič, curator Amila Ramović and programmer Andrei Tănăsescu will serve on the European Short Film Jury of the 26th Sarajevo Film Festival.
This year, the “Promising Filmmakers” come from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Greece, Georgia, Croatia, Cyprus, Hungary, Romania, North Macedonia, Serbia, Slovenia, and Turkey.
