MACONDO on the Fourth Day of the Festival

MACONDO, a German-Austrian co-production, will be screened at the National Theatre, on the fourth day of the 20th Sarajevo Film Festival. MACONDO is a feature film by Sudabeh Mortezai in competition as part of our Competition Programme - Features.

The film tells the story of an eleven-year-old boy Ramasan.  He must take on the role of the head of the household and take care of his mother and sisters. But the centre of his world is Macondo, a tough ethnic neighbourhood in the industrial suburbs of Vienna.

Sudabeh Mortezai was born in Ludwigsburg, Germany into a family of Iranian immigrants and grew up in Tehran and Vienna. She has worked as an assistant director and production manager and has directed several short films. MACONDO is her first feature film.
