Lazar Dragojević hosts the opening ceremony of the 29th Sarajevo Film Festival

The 29th Sarajevo Film Festival will open on Friday, August 11th, with a ceremony at the Sarajevo National Theatre and a series of events leading up to it.

The honor of leading the opening ceremony of the 29th edition of the Sarajevo Film Festival was bestowed on actor Lazar Dragojević.

“Sarajevo is the most beautiful chapter of my life, a city which I always return to. The Sarajevo Film Festival is the nicest event in the year to me, a period when the city never sleeps and when art takes over. It is an honor and a pleasure that I was given the role of host of the opening ceremony, I cannot briefly describe my joy, it’s immense”, said Lazar Dragojević.

Lazar Dragojević was born in Podgorica in 1996. During elementary school he participated at the municipal poem competition. At which he won first place three years in a row.

He graduated from music and ballet school „Vasa Pavić“ in 2014. His main instrument was the trombone. In 2012 he won a silver lyre at the state competition. Besides the trombone he also plays the piano, guitar, cajon, ukulele and oud.

He was always interested in sports. He trained brazilian jiu-jitsu, capoeira and gymnastic.

He enrolled in the Academy of performing arts in Sarajevo in 2016 in the class of professor Senad Bašić and graduated in 2020.

Dragojević starred in the films TAKE ME SOMEWHERE NICE by Ena Sendijarević, THE SON by Ines Tanović, ROUTE–3 by Thanasis Neofotistos, FULL MOON by Nermin Hamzagić, SIMPATHY FOR THE DEVIL by Guillaume de Fontenay, and in the TV series FERIA: THE DARKEST LIGHT, Creators: Agustin Martinez and Carlos Montero, THE DEFENDER by Jelena Svetličić, THEN YOU RUN by Robert McKillop and I KNOW YOUR SOUL, Creators: Jasmila Žbanić and Damir Ibrahimović. He also played in the theater: “Ivanov” directed by Andriy Zholdak, “Disgraced” directed by Dino Mustafić, “Taming of the shrew” directed by Dejan Projkovski, “Children of the Sun” directed by Jovana Tomić, “The Deceased” directed by Egon Savin and “Boat” directed by Ana Đorđević.

Every year, Sarajevo Film Festival is pleased to hand over the opening ceremony host role to the successful regional film artists of the younger generation, with the desire to discover, support and promote regional young film professionals.

In previous editions of the Sarajevo Film Festival, the role of the host of the opening ceremony was entrusted to actresses Amila Terzimehić, Zana Marjanović, Vanesa Glođo, Alena Džebo, Marija Pikić, Belma Salkunić and Helena Vuković, and actors Dino Bajrović, Igor Skvarica, Alban Ukaj, Ermin Bravo, Boris Ler, Adnan Hasković and Feđa Štukan.

The 29th Sarajevo Film Festival will take place from 11th to 18th of August 2023.
