ABOUT

Sarajevo City of Film for Global Screen (SCF GS) is a pilot project from TRT and SFF for the production of micro-budget films targeted to wider audiences, and a unique development, financing and production platform aimed at delivering fiction projects from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia.

SCF GS will fully finance and cash flow at least one project with the amount of EUR 200,000 in cash, EUR 35,000 in in-kind post-production support and EUR 35,000 in producers’ fees. In addition, SCF GS will support the development process, supervise the production within the given time-frame of 12 months and place the project in the international marketplace.

GOALS

  • SCF GS aims to promote the growing connection between TV and feature film markets both artistically and in terms of production.
  • Its goal is to facilitate and encourage writers, directors and producers from the region to produce films oriented towards wider audiences for both the theatrical and the TV markets in Former Yugoslavia and Turkey.
  • Filmmakers are offered a carefully designed programme based on multi-level expertise and individual mentorships throughout the full production process.
  • SCF GS hopes to strengthen connections between authors and producers from the region and the Turkish AV market.

WORKFLOW

  • Call for participation for the pilot edition will open on 22 August 2016 and will close on 4 November 2016.
  • A joint (TRT and SFF) selection committee will select two projects and the results will be announced on 1 December 2016.
  • The teams of the selected projects will participate in two workshops held in Sarajevo and Istanbul – mid December 2016 and late March 2017
  • At least one of the films will be given green light to enter production under the SCF GS scheme.
  • Shooting dates for the selected film/s will be scheduled between the beginning of May and the end of August 2017.
  • Rough cuts of the films should to be ready by 1 July and presented during the 23rd Sarajevo Film Festival at the CineLink Work in progress sessions, August 2017 (dates tbc).
  • Deadline for final cut presentation is 15 October 2017. The finished films need to be delivered to TRT by 15 December 2017, subtitled and ready for TV broadcast.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

  • Festival distribution of the finished films is welcome, and will be handled by SFF. The successful festival life of the film can influence the planned TV release date.
  • The finished film/s will be screened at Sarajevo Film Festival 2018.
  • Producer of the film/s is TRT in collaboration with SFF. All the rights are transferred to TRT accordingly. The project is financed by TRT with participation of SFF.
  • The applicant (Production Company) is also acting as service production company and will be credited as associate producer (in association with). Delegate producer(s) will keep the producers’ title, and will be credited as the first one among all producers and executives.
  • TRT and SFF can agree on sharing the international rights on exclusive or pro-rata basis among the producers.
  • SFF supervises the development, production and festival distribution, deals with day-to-day activities and organizes the educational platform of the project. Executives of SFF are credited as executive producers of the project. Mentors and supervisors are credited according to their roles.
  • TRT will appoint a production company from Turkey who will act as the Turkish co-producer of the project.

WHO CAN APPLY

  • The production company is based in one of the countries of Ex Yu (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovenia and Kosovo) with an experience in feature film production.
  • The delegate producer has produced as a producer or line producer one feature fiction film in the last 4 years and have had previous work presented at the international film festivals/on TV.
  • The director is attached to the project.
  • The project is targeted at wider audiences.
  • There is at least a 1st draft of the script and full treatment translated into English.
  • The director has previous work to submit (various genres allowed – short and feature films, TV series, commercials, music videos).
  • The producer and director have worked together previously.
  • The writer, director and producer are available for both development workshops, ready to work in English and ready to collaborate closely with mentors and executives of the SGC GS.
