HOME Tonight at the Open Air Premiere Programme
The screening of the film HOME, which will be shown at the UNIQA Open Air Cinema Stari Grad tonight at 8:45 pm, officially concludes this year's Open Air Premieres programme. The Prix Cineplexx will be awarded to the Best Film from this program, as chosen by the audience. The Prix Cineplexx award is established by the Sarajevo Film Festival in partnership with Cineplexx, the leading cinema chain in Southeast Europe. The award aims to strengthen the connection between festival recognition and a film's success in theatrical distribution.
In 1991, amid the Balkan region's dissolution and prompted by the unfolding events, six-year-old Maja and her parents decide to journey from Yugoslavia to Denmark. Their encounter with the promised land proves to be a challenging ordeal for the small family, however, and particularly for Maja. She observes in wonder as her parents desperately try to adapt to an entirely new world. Witnessing her parents' difficulties, Maja quickly learns to speak Danish and consequently shoulders the responsibility of an adult to support them. Years later, despite achieving success, Maja grapples with conflicting emotions, recognising the sacrifices her parents made that shaped her life – for, as we know well, everything comes with its price.
