Call for Entries: Sustainability On Set Training

CineLink Industry Days is launching Sustainability On Set Training, a new programme addressing one of the most persistent gaps identified through its sustainability work: the shortage of regionally based professionals able to translate environmental objectives into practical production decisions.

As sustainability standards become increasingly embedded in European film financing and international co-production, their implementation takes place under very different conditions. Productions across Southeast Europe often operate with smaller budgets, more limited infrastructure, uneven access to sustainable suppliers and services, and fewer specialized professionals. Building local expertise is therefore increasingly important both for the region’s own productions and for its ability to participate in international co-productions on equal terms. 

 

Led by Head of Studies Zsófia Szemerédy of Leverage Point, the programme will combine sustainability expertise with the practical realities of production in Southeast Europe. 

 

Participants will work with environmental planning and measurement, procurement, energy and emissions, mobility, locations, suppliers, materials, waste and documentation, always in relation to concrete budgetary, infrastructural and logistical conditions.

 

The programme is designed to build transferable expertise. While film and audiovisual production remain its central focus, the knowledge developed through On Set can also support film festivals, other cultural events, theatre productions and related creative activities, which face many of the same challenges around energy, transport, temporary infrastructure, procurement, materials and waste. 

 

Up to six participants will be selected for the first cohort, creating an initial group of regionally based professionals equipped to support more sustainable production and cultural activity. The first cohort is expected to complete the programme by the end of 2026. 

 

 

The programme is intended for:

 

• production managers

• location managers 

• production coordinators 

• junior producers 

• other professionals closely involved in production operations

 

Applicants should have a strong interest in developing sustainability expertise that can be applied across audiovisual production and the wider cultural sector.

 

 

The programme will be delivered in a hybrid format, combining online and onsite workshops:

 

 

Up to six participants will be selected. 

 

Applicants must be professionals based in one of the 21 Southeast European territories covered by CineLink:

 

Albania, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Kosovo*, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Türkiye and Ukraine.

Participation fee: EUR 500

Accommodation is covered by the programme.

Participants cover their own travel costs.

 

A limited number of scholarships are available to cover the participation fee, and applicants who wish to be considered should indicate this in their application.
