“Balkan Spirit” – Arte Television Project
Arte Television launched the project entitled “Balkan Spirit”. The project was named after Herman Vaske’s documentary film of the same name. As the organizers themselves say “boundaries come and go; but the creativity of the Balkans is here to stay”.
Led by this idea, organizers of the project announced the contest on the topic “What does Balkan Spirit Mean to You?”, intended for internet users, who can compete with their films in the form of a video with a maximum length of one minute. All the videos submitted will be presented on the arte.tv/balkanspirit website and evaluated by a jury. Twenty films selected by the jury will then be placed online where the visitors will have a chance to vote for their favorites.
The jury, composed of well-known artists, filmmakers and philosophers: Marina Abramović, Želimir Barić, Ada Condeescu, Slavoj Žižek, and Jasmila Žbanić, will not only decide on the best submission, but will also provide a creative feedback. Every member of the jury will present his or her idea of the Balkans in the form of a video as well. These films will act as “fire starters” for the competition, serving at the same time as a source of inspiration for the competitors.
