Philippe Le Guay and Natalia Verbeke to Present “SERVICE ENTRANCE“
Audience of the 17th Sarajevo Film Festival will have the opportunity to see the film SERVICE ENTRANCE by the French director Philippe Le Guay in the !Hej Open Air Cinema within the Open Air Programme.
Delightful, witty and warm comedy is an excellent choice for summer festival nights. The film, whose story and exceptional acting will not leave anybody indifferent will be presented to the Sarajevo audience by the director Le Guay and one of the leading actresses Natalia Verbeke.
Director Le Guay shows a sincere story about a serious, wealthy man, whose tedious life is entirely changed through meeting and companionship of his maids. The story is set in Paris, in early 1960s. Stock broker Jean-Louis Joubert is married with Suzan, even more serious and class conscious woman. They live a monotonous, tedious life in accordance with the rules, until through a series of coincidences Jean-Louis meets Maria, a charming new cleaning girl in service of Jean-Louis’s family. Spanish girls, maids from the sixth floor of his luxury building, open to Jean-Louis the door to an entirely different world and a new approach to life, different to the one he is used to. Jean-Louis gradually becomes a different man, a better man.

However, even though it will offer you a good entertainment and laugh, SERVICE ENTRANCE is much more than a comedy. In the background, it is actually a serious film, which deals with serious topic: injustice and the way in which wealthy employers take the advantage of emigrants, which is the problem burdening contemporary society. Also, the film is the appeal for tolerance and openness, for listening to the heart and not the only interest: bigger and safer earnings. However, even though it is the fundamental dimension of the film, in the SERVICE ENTRANCE you will not notice a single political slogan or sermon. The film is, according to the critics, a cocktail of good acting and sincere humor.
It is interesting that the actresses playing the maids are all Spanish and do not even speak French. Director Le Guay drew his inspiration for this film from his childhood. His father was also a stock broker, and he also had a Spanish maid. All these facts represent a good basis which contributes to the authenticity of the film in large.
Everybody who would like to watch a good, sincere and intelligent comedy having at the same time a nice time, will enjoy in Le Guay’s SERVICE ENTRANCE at the 17th Sarajevo Film Festival, and the screening in the open air in the !hej Open Air Cinema with more than 3.000 visitors will contribute to this atmosphere .
