Human Rights Day in Photographs!
For the second year in a row, the Sarajevo Film Festival is the host to the Human Rights Day, organized in cooperation with the Embassy of Switzerland. The Human Rights Day took place on Thursday, July 29.
On that occasion, in cooperation with the International Film Festival and the Geneva Forum for Human Rights, films TOUMAST - GUITARS AND KALASHNIKOVS directed by Dominique Margot, as well as the S.O.S. / STATE OF SECURITY directed by Michele Ohayon, were screened at the Cinema City.
Also, as part of the celebration of the Human Rights Day, a round table on the topic “Freedom of Speech in Cinema (Why am I a Human Rights Activist?)” was organized, in which Matthijs Wouter Knol, representative of the Berlin International Film Festival, Caroline Ravaud, representative of the Council of Europe, Yaël Reinharz Hazan, the directress of the International Film Festival and of the Geneva Human Rights Forum, as well as Bosnian director Srđan Vuletić took part.
At the Sarajevo Film Festival’s gala Award Ceremony the Human Rights Award will also be presented. This Award is being presented to the best film from the Competition Programme – Documentary Films which deals with the human rights topics. The Award in the amount of € 3.000 is provided by the Swiss Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
