The photographs from the reception are available here.

The reception on the occasion of shooting of the films included in the 2010 Sarajevo City of Film Project was organised in the Meeting Point Café, on Tuesday, April 13th. The present guests were addressed by Mirsad Purivatra, Sarajevo Film Festival Director, Ivana Pekušić, Sarajevo City of Film Coordinator, Srebren Dizdar, President of the BiH Cinematography Foundation, and Gabrijela Kasapović, Director of the Atlantic Group Corporate Communications.

The SFF Director, Mirsad Purivatra, underlined the importance of the Sarajevo City of Film Project, placing it among the most important Festival’s projects at the moment, aiming towards supporting young film authors from Southeast Europe, and providing them with the opportunity to realise their film projects.

Sarajevo City of Film Project Coordinator, Ivana Pekušić pointed out in her speech that filming of two out of four films included in this year’s selection of the SCF Programme, has been successfully completed. These are: the REVERSE by Greek director George Grigorakis, and the SMART GIRLS by directors Hana Jušić and Sonja Tarokić from Croatia. As Pekušić stated, it is scheduled for the filming of other two films to be completed by April 20th: these are the film by Albanian director Kelmend Karuni under the working title of FRIGIDANCE, as well as the film by Romanian director Catalin Musat with the working title THE TICKET COLLECTOR.

This was also a convenient occasion for short reminder on the projects realised during the 2009 and 2008 Sarajevo City of Film Programmes. Ivana Pekušić underlined the success of the short films made through this project, among which the following achievements were singled out:

The award for the best short Hungarian film for the ALENA’S JOURNEY, the award for the best short film by the Romanian International Film Festival for the MUSEUM OF BROKEN RELATIONSHIPS; and the screening of the LIBERATION IN 26 PICTURES at the prestigious Rotterdam Film Festival.

The guests present at the Meeting Point Café were also addressed by the representatives of the partners of the Sarajevo City of Film Project: Srebren Dizdar, President of the BiH Cinematography Foundation, and Gabrijela Kasapović, Director of the Atlantic Group Corporate Communications.

Talking about the Sarajevo City of Film Project, Srebren Dizdar pointed out the importance of this project for young film authors who were in this way provided with the opportunity to express their talents and potentials.

Gabrijela Kasapović said: “We have joined this Project last year for many reasons. We think that this is the most important project for the future of the Sarajevo Film Festival, because it is only through young talents’ development that we can achieve further growth and development of the Festival itself”.

We would also like to point out that this year the Sarajevo City of Film Project is again going to be realised under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Federation of BiH, and the Cinematography Fund of Federation of BiH, whereas the main partner of the Project is again the Atlantic Group.
