A Reception Following the World Premiere of “On the Path” – Promoting Bosnian Cinema

Hosted by the BiH Federal Ministry of Culture and Sport, the Cinematography Foundation and the Sarajevo Film Festival, a reception was held this Tuesday in Berlin to celebrate the world premiere of ON THE PATH, a film by Bosnian directress Jasmila Žbanić, as well as to further promote Bosnia's film industry.

The reception was held in anticipation of the world premiere, which is to take place on 18 February 2010 within the Berlinale's Competition Programme, the main programme at the celebratory 60th edition of the Berlin International Film Festival, and was attended by numerous film professionals, filmmakers and representatives of the media from around the world, who came to greet and wish directress Žbanić, as well as lead actors Zrinka Cvitešić and Leon Lučev, and film’s crew in Berlin, all the best in the upcoming competition.

This pleasant occasion was also a great opportunity to present a catalogue issued by the Bosnia and Herzegovina Association of Film Workers, Kinematografija Bosne i Hercegovine 2009/2010 (The Cinematography of Bosnia and Herzegovina 2009/2010) to numerous professionals in film and culture, and representatives of the most significant regional and world media. The organisers invited everyone to meet them again at the 16th Sarajevo Film Festival, which is to be held between 23 and 31 July 2010.

Among them many guests at the reception were also representatives of film festivals around the world, such as those in Cannes, Berlin, Rome, Edinburgh, Goteborg, Locarno, Jerusalem, Sophia, Abu Dhabi, Linz, Pula Zagreb etc.

All guests were welcomed by the evening’s hosts, the Federal Minister of Culture and Sport Gavrilo Grahovac, and the director of the Sarajevo Film Festival Mirsad Purivatra.
