
DOGTOOTH, EASTERN PLAYS and FIRST OF ALL, FELICIA Awarded at the Estoril Film Festival
DOGTOOTH, a film by director Yorgos Lanthimos has received the main award at the 3rd Estoril Film Festival. DOGTOOTH, which had its regional premiere at this year’s Sarajevo Film Festival, also received the Special Jury Award at the 15th SFF, as well as the 31st Cinemed Young People’s Award.
In addition, Estoril’s special recognition, the João Bénard da Costa Award, was presented to EASTERN PLAYS, also a film which premiered at the recent SFF. EASTERN PLAYS was also proclaimed Best Film at the 25th Warsaw Film Festival in the category of Best First or Second Feature Film, a category which includes directors from all corners of the world.
And last, but not least, the film FIRST OF ALL, FELICIA, the result by directing duo Melissa de Raaf and Razvan Radulescu, was also awarded the Cineuropa Prize for Best European Film. This debut feature was given a world premiere at the 15th Sarajevo Film Festival as part of the Competition Programme – Feature Film. According to the jurors of the Estoril Film Festival, this is a film “that helps us understand the last thirty years of Romanian history, as well as the problems that children today have when communicating with their parents, as well as the effects of a clash of cultures".
