Sarajevo City of Film directors application
1. General guidelines
• The Sarajevo City of Film 2013 Call for entries will be announced on October 18th 2012 and remain open until November 19th 2012. All Sarajevo Talent Campus participants eligible for applying will be informed about Call for entries by e-mail.
• The application will be borne mainly by the director, who has been a participant of one of the the last two editions of the Sarajevo Talent Campus.
• Along with the director, the applying team must also include two other associates from a different area of expertise in film (actor/actress or screenwriter), who will be named as participants in the application and who were also participants of one of the last two editions of the Sarajevo Talent Campus
• The members of the applying team must, as a whole, reside in at least two different countries
• The director submitting the application can apply with only one project
• The actors and scriptwriters are allowed to participate in more than one project
• The members of the applying team cannot be changed without prior consultation with and the approval of the Sarajevo Film Festival
• The screenplays submitted for the call must be micro-budget short feature films, with a maximum duration of 10 minutes
• The films selected for the grants will be produced in Sarajevo
• The filming process should not last longer than 3 shooting days
• The post-production of the selected films cannot take place outside Sarajevo even in the case that the director and his/her team can secure postproduction services elsewhere without incurring any production charges
• All selected projects will be provided with a producer and production team selected by Sarajevo Film Festival
• The completed films will have to be subtitled in either English or Bosnian (depending of the language of the film)
• The director of the selected film and his project team will not be allowed to obtain additional financial support for the realization of the film. Sarajevo Film Festival retains the right to provide additional funding for realization of the project Sarajevo City of Film and engage in coproduction
• The members of the project team (i.e. participants of one of last two editions of Sarajevo Talent Campus) agree to be involved in the realization of the film without any financial compensation
• Sarajevo Film Festival retains the right to select the members of the project’s creative team (apart from the director and the members of his/her project team i.e. the Talent Campus alumni) who will be working on the selected film projects
• The director submitting a film project for participation may add to the creative team two other members who were not participants of the Sarajevo Talent Campus. These members agree to be involved in the realization of the film for compensation agreed by the Sarajevo Film Festival
• Projects receiving the grants of the Sarajevo City of Film Fund, in the maximum amount of EUR 12,500.00, may use the provided funds to cover production and postproduction expenses incurred in Sarajevo, as well as the accommodation and traveling expenses incurred during the project preparation and implementation phase in Sarajevo
• The Sarajevo Film Festival retains all copyright to the produced films, as well as the right to host the premiere screening of the produced films and organize their subsequent distribution
• Director will sign the declaration of copyright- a written confirmation on granting the rights on film to Sarajevo Film Festival
• The Sarajevo Film Festival retains the right to call specific authors to participate in the Sarajevo City of Film grant scheme
• Only Sarajevo Film Festival / Obala Art Centar has the right to import realized films into the IMDB and similar databases
• Actors involved in the realization of Sarajevo City of Film films, coming from outside of Sarajevo, will receive a daily allowance of 10 EUR
• Directors involved in realization of Sarajevo City of Film films, coming from outside of Sarajevo, will receive food coupons in the daily amount of 10 EUR, but only for the days of stay in Sarajevo which are not the days of filming
Your on-line application must include the following:
• A film synopsis (max. 2000 characters)
• The screenplay of your film
• A list of project team members who participated in either the 2011 or the 2012 Sarajevo Talent Campus.
• The names of the 2 members of the creative team who have not taken part in the Sarajevo Talent Campus (if selected by the director)
• The biographies of all the members of the team who have participated in the Sarajevo Talent Campus
• The biographies of 2 members of the creative team who have not participated in the Sarajevo Talent Campus (if selected by the director)
• A statement of motivation, outlining your inspiration for working on this project
• Link to directors’ sample of previous work.
Previews or showreels are not accepted; only complete short films where applicant is signed as director or co director.
• Link to samples of work for 2 members of the creative team who have not taken part in the Sarajevo Talent Campus (if selected by the director).
Incomplete applications will not be considered!
Sarajevo City of Film 2013 Producers Workshop
SCF Producers workshop is intended for young professionals from 17 countries of the region who took part as producers in one of the two previous editions of the Sarajevo Talent Campuses. Participation in this workshop gives one the opportunity for practical work on realization of short films which will be filmed within the project Sarajevo City of Film. The Selection board will select up to 3 participants for this workshop. Selected participants will take part in the process of production of all short feature films as assistants from the domain of line production.
Concrete obligations will be assigned on the basis of real needs of production, interviews, and letters of motivation by the participants. Participants will be awarded the producers credit on all the films they worked on.

The terms and conditions of participation
• The call for entries is open for young film professionals who participated in one of the last two editions of the Sarajevo Talent Campus as producers.
• Successful applicants will spend between 6 to 8 weeks in Sarajevo and will be included in the preproduction, production and the postproduction of the films
• SCF will cover the travel costs, provide accommodation, and a weekly allowance of 100 EUR
• Producers selected to participate in Sarajevo City of Film 2013 Producers Workshop have to bring personal laptop to work with during the 8 weeks in Sarajevo
• The producers will not be allowed to obtain additional financial support for the realization of the film. Sarajevo Film Festival retains the right to provide additional funding for realization of the project Sarajevo City of Film and engage in coproduction
• After receiving the applications, selection board will select 10 producers for the interview and then make a final selection of up to 3 producers who will be involved in realization of Sarajevo City of Film 2013 projects
