Sarajevo City of Film
to discover, promote, and show the talent
SARAJEVO CITY OF FILM is the fund supporting the realisation of short micro-budget films, created through artistic and technical cooperation between the young film authors from the South-Eastern Europe.
For many years, the Sarajevo Film Festival has been developing programme platforms which aim towards providing support and promoting of the new young film scene in the region. A part of this strategy is being successfully implemented through the activities of the projects of Sarajevo Talent Campus and the CineLink. It is in this framework that our recent project, SARAJEVO CITY OF FILM, represents a natural upgrade and linkage between these two fields of activities – the education, i.e. training, and the film industry.
SARAJEVO CITY OF FILM fund has been launched in 2008, with the aim to encourage and motivate the young film directors from the region of South-Eastern Europe to realise joint projects/films, together with their colleagues, the screenwriters, producers, and actors (participants of Sarajevo Talent Campus). Our wish is to enable the shooting of the films that would be a quality reference for further authors’ work, as well as to provide Sarajevo Film Festival with the opportunity to present these authors as the new talents at the European and the world film scene.
In this way, it is not only that the opportunities are created for reaching tangible practical results out of the experiences gained through participation in the Talent Campus, but also the cooperation is encouraged between the young creative authors whose work represents the future of the regional cinematography. The mutual cooperation among young film professionals takes place in Sarajevo, the city known as being the crossroads of different cultures and religions, the city opened for the flow of different ideas, which is thus being profiled as the film centre of the region.
SARAJEVO CITY OF FILM is the project with the aim to support development of “young” film scene founded on the talent, knowledge, and recognisable brand – the Sarajevo Film Festival.
