See You at the 17th Sarajevo Film Festival

With the Gala Award Ceremony in the National Theatre, on Saturday (July 31), one more Sarajevo Film Festival has been ended. In its sixteenth edition, the SFF offered to the admirers of the seventh art a multitude of films from different genres and once again placed our country and its capital into the heart of cultural events in the region, and further as well.

During the period between the 23rd and 31st of July, film art admirers had the chance to watch 201 feature, documentary, and animated films from 52 countries.

Through the Regional Forum and CineLink Co-production Market, the Festival gathered film professionals from the region. This year again, the focus was on the young filmmakers: directors, actors, producers, scriptwriters. Thanks to the 4th Sarajevo Talent Campus, the SFF’s educational programme, all of them had a chance to hear lectures by the eminent film professionals from all around the world. Semih Kaplanoglu, Morgan Freeman, Gaspar Noé, Samuel Maoz, David Silber and many others, shared their valuable experiences with the young talents.

As one of the most significant Festival projects for the third year in a raw, the Sarajevo City of Film has been singled out. Four short films by the authors from Albania, Greece, Croatia, and Romania, made in Sarajevo during this year, were screened.

The excitement wasn’t missing on the Red Carpet this year either, and thus the Sarajevo audience was greeted by the eminent film stars from both European and world cinema.

Prizes have been awarded, lights turned off, the curtain pulled down.

We are eagerly expecting the 17th Sarajevo Film Festival from 22nd till 30th July 2011.
